Dr. Castillo was out of space and wanted to grow his practice. He was looking for both the optimum location and a suitable atmosphere to move his Laser Medicine and Surgery Center (MD Laster Studio). He had been treating his Laser Surgery patients out of his family practice office for years but began to realize he needed more than just additional space.

Dr. Castillo recognized his need to create a certain atmos-phere - one that appealed to the specialized needs of his clients. He wanted a location that was "as beautiful on the outside as you are on the inside."

Like many Timberpeg homeowners Dr Castillo and his wife, also a doctor in the practice, wanted a place that expressed their individuality. Rebecca comments, "The atmosphere in the Timberpeg is how we like to live - very casual, warm and relaxing." So they decided to incorporate that feeling into their office.

Laser medicine and surgery, a relatively new field dating back to the late 1970's, erases the ravages of time and environment, rejuvenating the face and skin. The Timberpeg office in Mooresville combines a modern design and layout with an age-old building tradition, timber framing, to help reflect the beauty of the antique elements inside - perfect match for Dr. Castillo's business, his tastes, and his vision!

The high vaulted great room with elaborate stone fireplace is the waiting area. Ample light radiates through the arched windows to bring out the natural beauty of the reclaimed antique heart pine floors. The kitchen works beautifully as the nurses’ station with the island and countertops being work spaces for computers. Even the custom maple cabinet drawers are now inboxes for the staff - identified by their type of pasta seen through the glass drawer fronts. Since the interior walls in a Timberpeg are non-structural, a simple wall added in the dining room has created a procedure room. Other bedrooms are now procedure and consultation rooms.

Clients find the warm natural tones and character of the building appealing. They are often found sitting in their procedure chairs staring at the timbers and intricately cut angles.

The atmosphere sets a deeply relaxing tone for patients preparing to undergo surgery. Not only are the doctors improving the quality of life for their clients, they inherently are improving it for their employees too. Office manager Carol "looks forward to coming to work each day to work in such a beautiful structure."

Just six months after moving to the new Timberpeg location, business more than quadrupled! Could it be that the quality structure, warm natural aesthetics, and fine details of the Timberpeg mirror the personalities and quality of work performed by Dr. Castillo and his wife? The doctors, staff and their patients have found a whole new level of comfort within their new building. We think you can too!
